The Castaways Repertory Theatre is a non-profit Community Theatre that performs in Woodbridge, Virginia. The membership consists of volunteers from all over the area and all walks of life who come together to provide quality live theatre to the community.
The Castaways were formed in 1981 and continue to give award-winning performances, involving themselves with the community, and enjoy coming together to produce a show.
Our mission is to provide quality live theatrical performances to the members and visitors of our community while involving those same community members in the theatrical arts through education, participation, and enlightenment.
Productions
We perform three feature plays a season and send annual entries to the Northern Virginia Theatre Alliance One-Act Play Festival. We have performed at our “Main Stage Theater,” the Dr. A.J. Ferlazzo Building auditorium, 15941 Donald Curtis Drive, Woodbridge, VA 22191 since 1996.
Bookings
We perform on request for various groups in the community.
Benefits & Community Outreach
The Castaways actively seek out opportunities to return to the community what they have gained from it. We organize and perform fund-raisers for local charities, sponsor and assist senior citizen acting groups, participate in local parades, and perform senior readings over the holidays. We partner with local area high schools to provide mentoring and experience to the theatre students.
Service
We provide technical assistance and equipment to other groups and programs seeking to produce performances as well as provide training to our members. We actively seek and consider original works for our feature and one-act productions.
Competitions
We are a founding member of the Washington Area Community Theatre Honors (WATCH) awards competition and send adjudicators to all areas of Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. to view and judge community theatre productions. We also participate annually in the British Embassy’s Ruby Griffith Awards Competition as well as enter one or two works in the Northern Virginia Theater Alliance (NVTA) One-Act Festival annually.
Previous CRT Productions
